I am so excited to be here at Avondale Middle School as a Master Teacher!

This is my 22nd year as a professional educator. I have taught middle school language arts and social studies, kindergarten art and 5th grade reading. I have been a district office administrator, an NAU and ASU faculty member and a private consultant. I earned my Bachelor’s in Arts in Secondary Education with an American History major from the University of New Mexico in 1992. I earned my Master’s in Education in Educational Leadership in 2002 from Northern Arizona University.

Part of what makes me a good teacher is being able to share who I am with my students. My family is extremely important to me! My oldest daughter is an engineer who graduated from ASU in 2012. She loves to travel and play in the outdoors. My youngest daughter is a new mother who is working on her nursing degree through NAU. She loves to ride and show horses. Luckily her mother does too! Interestingly enough, my brother is a biochemistry professor at UT Austin and my sister is a Language Arts teacher here in Phoenix.

I have very high expectations for students and their learning. I want this year to be exciting and challenging for all students. Every student is capable of success. I believe that it is my job to help teachers uncover that success. So I will work hard to learn as much about them as possible. I appreciate you taking your time to keep in touch with me and let me know how I can better support you.

Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions or ideas that can better help my students!
